Who Is Jesus?
Maybe you’ve heard the name Jesus many times, or perhaps you’re just beginning to discover who He is. Jesus is more than a religious figure or a story from history. He is God who came near to us.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was there from the beginning and that “all things were created through him” (John 1:1–3). God created us to know Him, but sin brought brokenness and separation from God into our world (Genesis 3).
But God did not leave us there. He came looking for us.
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” — John 1:14
“God walking on earth mattered more than man walking on the moon.”
Jesus entered our world, lived among us, and gave His life on the cross for our sins so that we could be forgiven and restored to God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Then He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death and offering us new life.
Jesus invites every one of us into a relationship with Him:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Jesus is our Savior, our King, and the One who gives us hope, purpose, freedom, and new life.
What Has He Done for Us?
Sin has brought brokenness, pain, and separation from God into our world. And if we’re honest, we all fall short of God’s perfect standard.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
But God did not leave us in our brokenness.
Jesus came to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. He became human, lived a sinless life, took our place on the cross, and carried the weight of our sin.
“Christ died for our sins… he was buried, and he was raised on the third day.” — 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
The cross shows us the depth of His love, and the resurrection shows us His victory over sin and death.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
Jesus did it all because He loves us—and He invites us into forgiveness, freedom, and a new life with God. It’s not about what we have done, but about who He is; not about who we are, but about what He has done for us on the cross.
What Does It Mean for You?
Jesus didn’t come only to change history—He came to change lives, including yours.
God offers you the gift of salvation through Jesus. You cannot earn it by being good enough or doing enough. It is a gift of grace, received through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9).
So what does it mean to follow Jesus?
It begins with a simple response: turn toward God, leave behind your old ways, and put your trust in Jesus.
The Bible says:
“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” — Romans 10:9
Jesus is still inviting people today with the same words He spoke then:
“Follow me.” — Matthew 4:19
- His grace is available to you.
- His forgiveness is available to you.
- A new life with Him is available to you.
How will you respond?
